Day 1-3 On Safari at Ol Pejeta Bush Camp

In the heart of Kenya’s Laikipia region, Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a shining example of conservation for the entire continent. Home to the last 3 Northern white rhino in the world, it’s also a sanctuary for Southern whites and critically endangered black rhino, as well as chimpanzee. In the heart of it all is Alex Hunter’s charming bush camp of the same name, where traditional game drives and walks in Big 5 territory are offered alongside visits to the projects - truly a place to discover the best of both worlds. There is a definite focus on conservation at Ol Pejeta and visits to the Endangered Species Enclosure to see the Northern white rhino and to the chimpanzee sanctuary take place daily. There are also opportunities to spend a morning with the lion research team and track the cats in the area, as well as with the rhino patrol guards. Intersperse these with traditional Big 5 game drives and walking safaris and this is a safari that’s very hard to beat!

Day 4-5 An authentic experience in the Masai Mara

Encounter Mara is a camp worth shouting about. Set in the world-renowned Mara Naboisho Conservancy, where Maasai landowners partner with camp owners in order to protect both the wildlife and the pristine land, there’s a big focus on cultural and community projects. There’s also no unnecessary bells, whistles or frills; rooms are rustic and restful and the service is attentive. Game viewing with the local guides is fantastic and interspersed with cultural experiences to create a safari that’s both informative and truly authentic. There’s lots to choose from at Encounter; game drives and walks depart twice a day and the camp offers daily night drives too. Cultural visits and experiences are high on the agenda and a morning spent in your guide’s village is a fascinating and moving experience. Guests can also visit the neighbouring Masai Mara, however we guarantee that once you’ve experienced the magic of Naboisho, you won’t be leaving in a hurry.

Day 6-8 Rustic charm in the midst of the majestic migration

This seasonal tented camp is set on a meander of the Talek River, in the Southern Maasai Mara, Southern Kenya. The camp operates from June to March offering rustic style and comfort that complements the wilderness experience available. The views across the water onto the plains beyond provide a taste of the areas game viewing potential, not to mention the Great Migration river crossings close at hand. Game drive is the primary focus of this region, with local guides sweeping you along on a journey of discovery. Spend a day in the bush picnicking in the wilds before continuing on your expedition into the great unknown. An hour from camp, at an extra cost, the local Maasai village provides insights into the rich history and culture of this local tribe. Bush walks are taken from camp illuminating the smaller and often missed creatures of this environment. If this doesn’t satisfy your desire for adventure, walking safaris are available but are a 2 hour drive from camp at an extra charge.
