Day 1-3 Enjoy the romantic retreat that is Elsa's Kopje Lodge

Meru National Park is recognised as having a greater diversity of animal species than any other park in East Africa, so prepare yourself and your camera for large elephant herds, hippo, lion, caracal, reptiles, a rhino sanctuary and more than 400 species of birdlife. Elsa’s Kopje, named after the lioness made famous by George and Joy Adamson, is an unashamedly romantic and beautifully styled retreat set into a rocky hill above the site of George’s famous orphaned lion camp. Take game drives and walking safaris with professional guides whose knowledge of the park is unrivalled. Pick up a rod and refreshments and settle on the palm-lined banks of one of Meru’s many rivers, then share your catfish, tilapia or barbel catch with the herons, monitor lizards and spectacular kingfishers. Enjoy an al fresco breakfast on the plains, surrounded by wildlife; or soak up the sunset with traditional safari sundowners. Visit the local Tharaka community, dip in the pool or relax at the spa.

Day 4-6 Experience ancient tribes and unique wildlife in a desert wonderland

Loisaba Tented Camp embodies a true balance between people, landscape, culture and the wildlife. Set in the stark Samburu area of north central Kenya, the lodge aims to touch your mind, body and soul while on safari in this unique and beautiful land. You can't help leaving truly moved. Mount a stallion and explore the African savannah on horseback. Trot past a herd of zebra or saunter through one of the indigenous forests on the property. Day 7-9 Experience the golden glamour of a 1920s safari adventure

Located on the banks of the river from which it takes its name, Sand River Masai Mara lies within Kenya's flagship reserve, close to the Tanzanian border. The camp itself is charming. Decorated in authentic 1920s colonial safari style, with plush leather seating, travel chests and a well-stocked library, the camp makes you feel like an extra in Out of Africa. This is where the wildebeest cross the river in search of better grazing, so you couldn't be closer to the heart of the action. There's profuse resident game too, so there's lots to see year round. Game drives and photographic safaris are always successful, especially as the guides are such five-star experts. See the action from above in a hot air balloon, watch the animals from your own private deck or settle back with a book in your super-glam accommodation.
