Day 1-2 Unbeatable Location on the Chobe River
Touching down at Kasane International Airport, you’ll be met and driven to Chobe Game Lodge. Staying here puts you right on the Chobe River within this famous national park, so between safari activities look forward to a bit of armchair game viewing – watching for wildlife the water’s edge.
Chobe Game Lodge offers its guests three safari activities a day. Cruise the river in small, easily manoeuvrable boats (perfect for getting up close to sightings) and enjoy game drives in open 4x4s. This region is best known for its elephant, especially during Botswana’s dry season when herds of up to 100 gather on the riverbank!
There’s plenty of other wildlife too, and watching the sunset over the river is the perfect way to slip into the relaxed feel of life on safari.

Day 3-4 Big Cats & Wild Dogs in Botswana’s Savuti Region
Leaving the river, you fly south to the wild and game-rich Savuti Region. Here you’ll stay at Savute Safari Lodge in one of 12 thatch-and-timber chalets, each with its own viewing deck overlooking the lodge waterhole – a popular drinking point for elephant, zebra and impala.
Set out on game drives led by guides with an encyclopaedic knowledge and real passion for the African bush. Since you’re still within Chobe National Park, you are not permitted to drive off-road but there’s still plenty to see. These savannah plains set the scene for award-winning filmmakers Dereck and Beverly Joubert’s documentary ‘Ultimate Enemies’, showing never-before-seen behaviour of lion hunting elephant!
Other predators you’re likely to see include wild dog, spotted hyena, cheetah and (if you’re lucky) leopard too.

Day 5-6 Under-Canvas Safari at Camp Moremi
Next it’s a short flight down to Moremi Game Reserve for a two-night stay at Camp Moremi. This tented camp has a beautiful location, set amongst giant ebony trees on the edge of the Xakanaxa Lagoon. Tents are spacious with en-suite bathrooms and wooden floors, yet you still have that authentic under canvas experience of lying in bed listening to the sounds of hippo snorting in the lagoon below.
Moremi protects a third of the Okavango Delta, its islands and waterways creating a patchwork of forests, grasslands and wetlands. Go on game drives, keeping an eye out for leopard stretched out in the Mopane trees or a pride of lion camouflaged in the long grass.
You also have the option of a boat ride, and between game viewing activities there’s a lovely swimming pool that’s perfect for a cooling dip. As for the staff, their genuine warmth makes Camp Moremi the kind of place that you long to return to (which many guests do).

Day 7-8 Mokoro Safaris & Guided Walks in the Okavango
From Moremi, travel to a remote forested island at the heart of the Okavango Delta. A true water-based camp, Camp Okavango can only be reached by boat or plane. Since there are no roads, the experience here is all about the water wilderness of the delta with motorboat, mokoro and walking safaris – an excellent wonderful contrast to the game drives in Moremi.
Motorboats take you into deeper channels while mokoros (traditional dugout canoes) glide through the reed-lined waterways, past water lilies and colourful kingfishers. Back on land go on an island walk, safe in the capable hands of your guide. Although you’ll see more wildlife on game drives, nothing can compare to the thrill of seeing lion or elephant while on foot.
This is a wonderfully peaceful camp where, in the evenings, guests and guides come together to swap safari stories and enjoy a drink or two around the crackling campfire.

Day 9-10 The Stark Beauty & Rich Wildlife of Makgadikgadi
Your final stop is Leroo La Tau, a luxury lodge bordering Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The stark beauty of this desert environment is an incredible contrast to the Okavango Delta. Yet, once again, there’s plenty of wildlife to see especially during Botswana’s dry season when thousands of zebra and wildebeest migrate to the Boteti River - the only source of water for miles around.
Leroo La Tau sits right on the bank of this river, its chalets opening onto superb views and a steady stream of wildlife: elephant, giraffe, wildebeest and kudu. Activities on offer here include both day and night game drives, as well as boat safaris (depending on water levels).
Other highlights include a visit to the nearby village, and magical sunrises which are best enjoyed without so much as getting out of bed.
