Wildlife viewing is particularly strong during the Jun/Nov dry season, whilst the reserve remains a beautiful place to visit during the converse Dec/Mar green season.

Day 3 On safari in the Selous Game Reserve
You have one full day on safari in the Selous Game Reserve. The reserve is enormous, around the size of Switzerland, and its wild beauty is unparalleled. Your safari activities are arranged between yourselves and the camp manager on the preceeding night and this is when you will decide what you would like to do for the following day. This gives you a great deal of flexibility, whether you want to do a bush walk, game drive or boat safari - you can decide on the evening before.

Day 4 Safari and transfer to Mivumo River Lodge
Today is a full day on safari. The reserve covers around 45,000km2 of wilderness, with grassy plains, open woodland, mountains and forests, the Selous Game Reserve (pronounced Selooo and named after the great explorer and hunter, Frederick Courtney Selous) is Africa’s largest game reserve. It’s about three times the size of South Africa’s Kruger National Park, and twice the size of the Serengeti National Park. In a fitting tribute, it is also one of Tanzania’s three World Heritage Sites.
Tonight you will upgrade to Mivumo River Lodge for the following two nights on an all-inclusive basis.

Day 5 One more Full day on Safari
You have one more full day on safari in the Selous Reserve. If you’d like to try a river boat safari then today could be the perfect opportunity to get out on the Mivumo River Lodge motorboat.
Mivumo features the same 4 seater vehicles as its sister camp and so the privacy and personal quality of your safari is maintained. There are also huge populations of crocodile, hippo, spotted hyena and leopard to name just a few of the big game species found here. Historically Selous has been home to a large proportion of Tanzania’s elephants population and the reserve remains a fantastic place to see elephants in the wild. Unfortunately there has been a marked increase in poaching over recent years, which underlines the vital role that responsible tourism can play in the conservation of areas such as the Selous.

Day 6 Fly to Pangani
This morning we fly to Pangani, where you are met on arrival at Pangani and are driven to The Tides Lodge. Your stay is for the following 2 nights in the Hibiscus House on a full board basis.
The Tides is a high quality beach lodge, relatively off the beaten track and providing a viable alternative to Zanzibar, with lots of space, good beaches and offshore sandbanks and reefs. Service here is elegant and discreet and there
is are pleasant waterfront public areas, a nice swimming pool and ten very nice guest rooms. A wide range of activities are available, which is great for keeping entertained and active.

Day 7 Beach & Marine Safari
Today you can relax on the beach or we can head out on a Marine Safari. This involves heading out onto the ocean either by motorboat or sailing dhow in search of dolphins and other sea creatures. In most cases the ultimate destination is a sand- bank, exposed at low tide, where guests can enjoy a picnic lunch, swimming, snorkelling and, in some cases, diving and fishing. This activity is particularly sensitive to weather conditions as a picnic on a sandbank is no fun when the wind gets up.
