Day 1-3 Five-star comfort in a five-star wilderness jostling with wildlife

You will be met at the airport and transferred to your first lodge by road. Located in Chobe National Park, in a wide savanna wilderness dotted with rocky outcrops, marshlands and the Savute Channel, Savute Elephant Lodge is a first-class place to stay. The rooms are lovely, the courteous care of the staff is well known and the food is really good. Superb creature comforts aside, it's the wilderness here that delivers the real treasures – more animals than you could dream of, elephants everywhere, dramatic big cats in all their predatory glory, birding to satisfy any ornithologist and even ancient San rock paintings. Game drives are productive, with the park's trademark elephant and lion sighted regularly. Visit the Gubatsa Hills, a cluster of rock outcrops where you'll see early rock paintings and creatures such as leopard and klipspringer. Paddle along the channel's interesting waterways, silent apart from the whispering reeds and noises of the animals.

Day 4-6 An original luxury retreat in Botswana's renowned Moremi Game Reserve

Just a short flight away from Chobe National Park is Belmond Khwai River Lodge. The Khwai River forms the boundary between the picturesque and productive Moremi Game Reserve to its south and a community-owned and operated concession to the north. At the lodge you can have the best of both. In the reserve, activities are limited to game drives (which usually provide plenty of action); in the community concession, you can do night drives as well as bush walks. The spacious lodge offers supreme comfort with a relaxed atmosphere - old-school charm with modern amenities, delicious dining and plenty of great game viewing even from your private deck. The focus is on the morning and afternoon game drives which generally yield a good return for your efforts, especially in terms of predator sightings. Be sure to go for a nature walk on the community land, as well as visit the local village for a cultural experience.

Day 7-8 Elegant, tented safari camp on the banks of the Zambezi River

You'll be transferred by charter plane to Zambezi Sands, an elegant, tented lodge situated in the western area of the Zambezi National Park, on the banks of the Zambezi River, upstream of the Victoria Falls. It is one of the newest camps in the Victoria Falls region and the winner of the Best New Zimbabwe Camp title in the 2016 Safari Awards. Zambezi Sands is unique in that it features not only the Zambezi River with its water-based activities, great wildlife and scenery, but is also close enough to go to Victoria Falls for the day. Cruise on the Zambezi River amongst the islands near the lodge and enjoy the river, its wildlife and the sunset with complimentary drinks and snacks. Go on game drives or game walks in the Park - both with fully licensed and highly experienced professional guides. Guided canoe trips along the Zambezi River and guided fishing expeditions are also available. Picnic lunches can be requested for an island treat.

Day 9-12 Vamizi Island, what holiday dreams are made of

You will be chartered out to the stunning Quirimbas Archipelago. This oasis is located on a gleaming tropical island with turquoise waters, unspoilt beaches and lush tropical vegetation hugging the shoreline. The lodge and guest villas offer the best in barefoot luxury with whimsical interior decoration that will leave a lasting impression. And what you see above, so you will find below. Beneath the surface of the local waters there are over 180 species of coral and 300 species of reef fish. You can go deep-sea fishing, take a dhow sundowner cruise, snorkel and scuba dive, experience a glamorous castaway picnic of magazine shoot proportions, kayak through the mangrove fringed estuary or get a deep tissue massage at the spa. Better yet, from November onwards, green sea turtles come up onto the beach to nest at night. If you’re lucky enough to be in season, you could help release hatched baby turtles.
