11-Day Botswana's Northern Gems
Victoria Falls marks the beginning of your northern safari circuit. Hop over the border, into Botswana's Chobe National Park for some spectacular game viewing. Head deep into the Savuti region and then dive into the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta, for an excellent combination of wetland and arid mopane savannah wilderness. End your trip in the wide expanse of the Makgadikgadi National Park.

Day 1-2 Enjoy Victoria Falls in timeless majesty
You will be met at the airport and driven to Victoria Falls Hotel, one of the most famous hotels on the continent. Seamlessly blending colonial glamour with some serious style thanks to a recent refurb, the Victoria Falls Hotel has been welcoming guests since 1904 and is an icon of a bygone era. Nowadays, the hotel is famous for its tranquil location 10 minutes away from the awe-inspiring Falls, the utterly charming service and mesmerising view of the misty spray rising from the bridge… best enjoyed from the terrace alongside a pot of tea and a tower of scones of course.
The on-site activity centre is a handy one stop shop for all your Victoria Falls needs, from the nail-bitingly adventurous white-water rafting and bungee jumping, the slightly more sedate helicopter flights and the perfectly relaxing river cruises and guided walks. Also worth a mention are fishing trips on the Zambezi and a stroll around the town of Victoria Falls for those all-important souvenirs.

Day 3-4 Stay at a stylish, one-of-a-kind riverfront hotel in Chobe National Park
You will be chartered to Chobe Game Lodge. A safari stop with all the luxury of a city hotel, with its forty-eight rooms appointed with all the modern conveniences you'd expect to find. It is, in fact, the only hotel or lodging option within the Chobe National Park - and a perfectly positioned one at that. It also boasts an impressive amount of eco-friendly innovations and initiatives, including a fleet of silent electric game viewers which is not just novel but truly enhances a safari experience. Here, things are structured a bit differently from your average safari lodge - an activities coordinator organises your itinerary though you are encouraged to make suggestions and diverge from the game plan. Despite its size, the lodge achieves personalised service; this, combined with its stunning location on the banks of the Chobe River, make it a top option in the region.

Day 5-6 Down-to-earth comfort and great game viewing along the Savute channel
You will be chartered to your next camp. Relatively traditional in style, this camp offers access to some of Botswana's most dramatic game viewing along the evanescent Savute channel in Chobe National Park. It is perched right on the bank of the channel, which somewhat erratically flows and is dry through other periods, save a few waterholes. This location ensures that a near-constant flow of wildlife streams past your front doorstep. The lodge provides a high level of service and privacy in a very popular region, as well as some expert guiding to help ensure you find what you came to see.
The drives usually centre around the Savuti Marsh and along the channel, where the majority of the big game concentrate. There are lots of elephant and zebra to be seen, along with big herds of buffalo and a healthy population of lion and wild dog. Birding is particularly interesting, with seasonal migrant species returning, most noticeably the nesting carmine bee-eaters.

Day 7-8 A classic tented camp on Xakanaxa lagoon in game-rich Moremi
You will be chartered onward to Camp Moremi which is located in one of the busier regions of the reserve, for two good reasons: it's beautiful, and the game viewing is fantastic. The downside is that you have to share with a few other campers. The camp itself is a private refuge, a world away from the buzz. It offers friendly, efficient and personalised service and is both spacious and comfortable.
Because of its location within Moremi Game Reserve, Camp Moremi's activities must abide by park regulations. The morning and afternoon game drives can be quite productive - diverse habitats in this region are home to a wide array of predators and antelope species, as well as large herds of buffalo and elephant - but are limited to daylight hours. There's also a high chance of seeing a few other vehicles which does diminish the sense of exclusivity a bit. You can also get out on a boat - a great way to explore the lagoon and get up close to its creatures.

Day 9-10 Easy going style on the edge of the Boteti River
You will fly to your next camp, Leroo La Tao, perched on the banks of the seasonally flowing Boteti River, west of the well-known Makgadikgadi Pans in Botswana. The region is famous for its large yearly migrations of zebra and wildebeest - thousands can be seen in the riverbed during the end of the dry season (September/October). The river itself has a fascinating and tumultuous history, drying up significantly in 1988 for two decades, affecting wildlife behaviour and prompting incredible adaptations like terrestrial dwelling crocodile building dens into the dry riverbanks. However, since a record high flood in 2009, the seasonal flow has been adequate and wildlife again congregate on the river, typically from May through October. The lodge is one of the few luxury options in the region - you'll feel utterly spoiled but also easily at home in this grand setting with warm, down-to-earth hospitality.
